Senior Growth Strategist

Beauty & Health CPG  ·  Remote  ·  Full time
Apply for this role
Who this is for
You have grown a beauty or health brand through a stage between $1M and $50M in revenue, and you were in the Meta and Google accounts while it happened.

This is a perfect fit if you want to drive growth across a portfolio of beauty brands rather than one, if you want real ownership of the outcome, and if you are both an analytical and a creative marketer. The people who do well here can read a contribution margin report and also tell you why the creative stopped working.

About Onward

Onward is a growth marketing and data agency. We build the data infrastructure that tells a brand what actually worked, and we run the media that drives the growth. Most agencies do one or the other. We do both, on a flat monthly fee tied to neither spend nor revenue, which means our incentives line up with the client's. Our portfolio is growing fast in health and beauty.

The role

You own a book of business. Not a channel, not a deliverable. The account, and what happens to the client's business. You build the growth plan, you run the client relationship, and you are the reason they renew.

You will have a strategist handling most of the day-to-day launches and execution, plus an analyst on the account. Your job is to direct that work, not do all of it. But you have to have done it, and you need to be ready to get your hands dirty when the account calls for it. You cannot QA work you have never done or defend a number you cannot trace.

The other half of the job is the strategic half: making the call on where the next dollar goes, showing a founder or CMO the case for it, and proving it out once the money is spent.

What you will do
  • Own 5 to 10 health and beauty accounts end to end, including the client relationships
  • Build and defend a 6-month growth plan for each one, grounded in contribution margin and unit economics
  • Direct paid media across Meta, Google and emerging channels, with a strategist executing
  • Set the strategy and QA the work. You are accountable for what ships whether or not you built it
  • Make channel allocation calls and make the case for them to client leadership
  • Work with our data team to define what gets measured, including new customer acquisition, payback windows and SKU-level contribution margin, and know every input behind the numbers you present
  • Bring clients problems and opportunities they did not ask about
  • Develop your strategist and analyst, and scale what you learn to the rest of the team
What you need
  • You oversaw growth at a beauty or health brand through a stage between $1M and $50M, and you were in the Meta and Google accounts while it happened. You know how the campaigns were built, what you tested, what you killed, and what actually drove the number
  • A track record of results you can point to and explain
  • Real strategic reps: you have chosen between channels, showed leadership the case for it, and owned the outcome
  • Fluency in contribution margin, CAC, LTV and payback. If you optimize to ROAS because it is the number in the dashboard, this is not the role
  • Comfort operating without a playbook. Every client paying real money is unusual in some way
Nice to have
  • Omnichannel experience, with retail, Amazon and D2C in one measurement picture
  • Creator and influencer program experience
  • Feed and shopping optimization
Who does well here

People who are hungry. Our clients are moving fast and so are we. The strategists who thrive at Onward front-load the hard work in the first few weeks of an account, bring bad news early, come to the table with a recommendation rather than three options, and get curious enough about a client's category that they know what all twenty competitors are doing.

If that is you, we want to talk.
